Overview

HL7 and its members provide a framework (and related standards) for the exchange, integration, sharing, and retrieval of electronic health information. These standards define how information is packaged and communicated from one party to another, setting the language, structure and data types required for seamless integration between systems. HL7 standards support clinical practice and the management, delivery, and evaluation of health services, and are recognized as the most commonly used in the world.

eHealth NSW

eHealth NSW is a distinct organisation within the NSW Ministry of Health to provide statewide leadership on the shape, delivery and management of ICT-led healthcare.

HL7 Australia Standards Development Initiative Webinar

The Board of HL7 Australia is excited by the opportunity to reboot a HL7 standards process in Australia.  We will be releasing more information over the coming weeks.  We will be holding a webinar on Wednesday 23th March at 2pm AEST to provide more information on this new initiative. 

HL7 Australia Inaugural Working Group Meeting

HL7 Australia's inaugural Work Group Meeting is being held in Brisbane on 11 April 2016.  All members and interested parties are invited to come and participate in the new standards development initiative, and meet our new Technical Steering Committee and Co-Chairs.

Over 50 developers attended the first combined National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA), HL7 Australia and CSIRO sponsored Terminology Connectathon in Brisbane.

3rd HL7 Australia Working Group Meeting - Nov 2016, Melbourne

HL7 Australia’s third Work Group Meeting (WGM) will be held on 7 and 8 November 2016 at University of Melbourne.  Following the format of past WGM, the event will include presentations from key speakers, work group meetings and a FHIR Connectathon.

Expanding on the desire to build a collaborative community, this WGM will include a new element with a ClinFHIR session aimed specifically at clinicians.  The importance of supporting engagement between clinicians and developers cannot be refuted and it forms a key point of the Standards Development Initiative.
