Australia was one of the first countries to form a local group that later became the ~50 HL7 International Affiliates and was an early driver for the internationalisation of HL7.
HL7 Australia began in Australia in 1998 under the auspices of Standards Australia IT-14 Health Informatics Committee. Led by Klaus Veil, it was first incorporated independently as the HL7 Australasia User Group on 17 May 2002 and changed to its current name in March 2010.
There have been many distinguished members who have made significant volunteer contributions during its history. Most (we hope) are recognised in a registry available here.
Please let us know by email if we have forgotten anyone for which we apologise.
